Cary police charge two with selling heroin to undercover cop

A man and a woman were arrested on several drug charges after what police said were heroin sales to an undercover officer.

Shaun Jermaine McLeod, 30, of 7821 Bergstrom Drive in Raleigh was arrested late Friday afternoon after a purchase by the undercover officer, records showed.

Nicole Lauren Weatherspoon, 25, of 5272 Windward Way in Southport in Brunswick County was arrested Saturday at a motel in Raleigh.

In arrest warrants, police charged that McLeod and Weatherspoon conspired in sales of heroin on Dec. 3, Dec. 12 and Friday.

Weatherspoon was charged with heroin possession and selling to the undercover agent on Dec. 12. Police charged McLeod with the earlier sale and possession then and with selling and delivering heroin on Friday.

When they arrested him after stopping his 2002 GMC Yukon SUV on Northwest Maynard Road on Friday, police said in one of the arrest warrants for McLeod, he had between 4 and 14 grams of heroin.

That quantity led to a heroin trafficking charge against McLeod.

McLeod was held over the weekend on $300,000 bail and Weatherspoon on $75,000, and both were to appear before a judge Monday.
