Bank robber threatens teller with 'bomb'

CARY -- Cary police are searching for a suspect who this afternoon robbed the First Citizens Bank at 1825 Kildaire Farm Road.

The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money after he threatened a teller with a small device he claimed was a bomb.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 50s, about 6 feet tall, 250 pounds, with a goatee. He was last seen wearing a white painter's hat, mirrored sunglasses, a surgical mask and dirty, construction-type clothing. Police did not provide information about the suspect's hair color or length or other distinguishing characteristics.
