One person was critically injured Tuesday night when a car collided with a police patrol vehicle on East Miami Boulevard, Durham police said this morning.
None of those involved in the accident were named in a news release issued by the Durham Police Department.
The wreck occurred about 9:28 p.m. when a 1993 Mercury Cougar made a left turn from Laurel Drive onto South Miami. The car entered the eastbound travel lane and collided with the patrol vehicle, which was heading east on South Miami, police said.
Four of five male occupants in the Cougar were taken to Duke Hospital. Four were treated for minor injuries and one remained in "serious critical" condition, police said.

The driver of the Cougar apparently had been drinking, police said. Both vehicles were totaled.
