RALEIGH Police on Thursday filed 16 charges of car-breaking against a man whom Garner police had charged with the same kind of crime last week.

Charles Michael Padgett, 30, of 4801 Winterlochen Road in Garner was accused in arrest warrants of 13 counts of breaking into or entering cars on July 9 on Crabapple Lane in Raleigh, two counts of breaking or entering May 26 on McDonald Lane and one count of the same offense on May 26 on Clark Avenue.

Police also charged six counts of misdemeanor larceny involving items taken from the vehicles.

Garner police had charged Padgett on Oct. 7 with breaking into or entering four vehicles and stealing items from them. He also was charged with resisting arrest then.

With the charges from Raleigh, Padgett’s bail rose to $217,000. He was set for a Friday court appearance on the new cases.
