Two women face charges of heroin trafficking, and one is accused of armed robbery in the wake of what was first reported as an armed robbery at the Red Roof Inn at 5623 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd., police said Tuesday.
Kylee Dawn Ford, 38, and Devyn Linn Ford, 19, were arrested Monday at the hotel, police Lt. Joshua Mecimore, a department spokesman, said.
The two, whose relationship was not clear, were each charged with heroin possession and heroin trafficking after police found what they believed was 58.8 grams (just over 2 ounces) of it in the room where the women were, Mecimore said. They also were charged with maintaining the room as a place to keep and sell drugs.
Devyn Ford was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon because a man told police that he had met her online, went to the Red Roof Inn to meet her and was robbed, Mecimore said.
The man called police. Hotel staff and police were able to determine the room he had been in.
A man who was in the room when police entered, Davonte Leon Graves, 21, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, which is a misdemeanor. he was jailed in lieu of $1,000 bail.
The incident happened in the part of Chapel Hill that is in Durham County, and each Ford was held in the Durham County Detention Center on $2.5 million bail.
