A 19-year-old man from Wake Forest was arrested Tuesday on a charge of shooting into an occupied car and pistol-whipping another man during a fight involving several people two weeks ago.

Franchesco Martinez was arrested at his Summer Place home, records show.

Police had arrest warrants charging Martinez with firing into occupied property, which is a felony, and with assault by pointing a gun, assault with a deadly weapon, going armed to the terror of the people and firing a gun inside the city limits.

Police said the assault counts involved another man in a fight that involved several people on May 3.

People were fighting with pipes and sticks and the gun Martinez was accused of shooting.

The other man was hit with a pistol during the fight, and the shot was fired as some of the combatants were fleeing, police said.

Martinez was held in lieu of $100,000 bail for a court appearance.
