A 27-year-old man was charged early Thursday with trafficking in the drug MDMA and having marijuana at an apartment on Brier Oak Place.
Police arrested Brandon Rashad Burkett at the apartment at 9930 Brier Oak Place, records showed.
Arrest warrants obtained by police late Wednesday accused Burkett of having between 28 and 200 grams of MDMA, a party drug known as ecstasy or Molly, depending on its form; having just under 3.5 ounces of marijuana, and using the apartment as a place to keep and sell drugs.
Twenty-eight grams – just under 1 ounce – is the minimum quantity of powdered MDMA required under state law for a trafficking charge, which carries more punishment than only possessing the drug.
Arrest records listed Burkett‘s home address as 6345 Dry Fork Lane in Raleigh.
Burkett was held in lieu of $100,000 bail for a court appearance Thursday.
