A 41-year-old father is charged with felony and misdemeanor abuse of his 5-month-old sons in an eight-day period earlier this year, including breaking one boy’s arm.
Police arrested Nagaraj Venkat Pamarthi on Monday night at his home at 5308 Jade Forest Trail in Raleigh.
According to arrest warrants sworn out by investigators, one boy suffered a broken left arm between Jan. 25 and Feb. 1. That resulted in a charge of felony child abuse inflicting serious injury.
In the same eight days, the warrants allege, a second boy had bruising on his left ankle, right calf and hip and right arm. Those are cited as misdemeanor child abuse.
The latter injuries were, police wrote, “inflicted by other than accidental means.”
Police spokeswoman Laura Hourigan said the charges involved two boys the same age.
A magistrate set Pamarthi’s bail at $455,000, and he was held overnight for a Tuesday court appearance.
