A high school student was shot in the neck during baseball practice, reports say

A 15-year-old reportedly was shot Thursday during baseball practice at Rocky Mount High School.

The student reported hearing popping noises before being hit in the neck with a small projectile, according to WNCN. The student was taken to UNC Nash Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, the report said.

Police said no disturbances had been reported at the school at the time of the incident, but said people may have been hunting nearby, ABC11 reported.
