Police arrested Angelo Dionte Moody, 27, on robbery and assault charges on Dec. 20.
Dotson was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and first-degree kidnapping. Moody was charged with those offenses also.
Dotson was also charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest and weapon possession by a felon.
Police spokeswoman Donna-maria Harris said officers from the department’s fugitive squad had found Dotson, and they and patrol officers used their cars to surround his. Dotson tried going left and right and then backed into a police cruiser before getting out of the car, and that led to the charge of trying to flee police, she said.
The day of the shooting, police had gone to Wake Towne Drive to check on a report that shots had been fired in the area.
Wake Towne Drive is home to an apartment complex and several hotels.
Police said their investigation did not end with Dotson’s arrest, but they did not disclose if they are looking for more suspects.
Dotson was held in lieu of $2.26 million bail. Moody has been held since his arrest in lieu of $500,000 bail.
