A student brought a loaded gun to Enloe High School Monday and surrendered it during a voluntary search.

All students were safe after the incident, the school’s principal reported.

In a message to parents, Principal Jacqueline Jordan said the gun was found during a meeting between the student and an administrator, which included the search.

“Having a weapon on a school campus is a very serious offense,” Jordan wrote. “While we are not allowed to discuss disciplinary action for an individual student, we can not that state law requires a 365-day suspension.”

In December, an Enloe student was found to have both a knife and an electric stun gun on campus.

Jordan reminded parents to keep firearms locked in a gun safe and to encourage children to report matters of concern. Anonymous tips can be sent to (919) 856-1911 or the Say Something app.
