A 29-year-old man was arrested at a Raleigh hotel on charges he set up a 17-year-old woman as a prostitute there after breaking into her apartment Monday, punching her and stealing money from her.
Aaron Drake Byrd was arrested at the City Studios Inn & Suites at 2910 Capital Boulevard and charged with promoting prostitution by a minor, human trafficking with a child victim, common-law robbery and breaking or entering with the intent to terrorize — all felonies — and misdemeanor assault on a female.
According to arrest warrants police obtained Monday, Byrd broke into an apartment on Hodges Creek Drive. He stole $300 from the woman who lived there and punched her in the face and dragged her by her hair, the warrants alleged.
The prostitution and trafficking charges are listing as happening Tuesday. Records showed Byrd was arrested Tuesday morning.
The prostitution charge said he profited from prostitution by the 17-year-old by “providing a hotel room and receiving money.”
Byrd list an address of 404 Haywood St. in Raleigh when he was booked into the Wake County Detention Center. He was held on $100,000 bail for a Wednesday appearance before a judge.
