A 25-year-old woman was shot in the leg while she was standing with a group of people outside a church near downtown Tuesday morning, police said.
Police said they were looking for a man who fired a handgun and then drove away from the scene at East Martin and Camden streets, where the Gethsemane True Vine Holiness Church sits.
The woman was taken to WakeMed Raleigh hospital. Her wounds were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
The incident was reported at 6:44 a.m.
Investigators were working on the case Tuesday, spokesman Jim Sughrue said, and police did not disclose whether they had identified a suspect or established a motive for the shooting.
