Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man they say shot someone to death in a subdivision south of Knightdale on Saturday afternoon.

Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said the shooting happened around 3:45 p.m. at 1208 Rutledge Landing Drive, off Poole Road a few miles south of Knightdale. He said the shooter is in custody, but deputies are still looking for two others involved who fled the scene on foot.

The sheriff’s office identified the deceased as Derrick Dean Natson, 47, from Knightdale. Investigators are in the process of interviewing Neil Algernon Curtis Dick, 36, and identifying and interviewing all potential witnesses.

Deputies were going door to door on Rutledge Landing Drive on Saturday evening seeking more information about the incident. Harrison said it’s still unclear whether the shooting was a random act or if the people involved knew each other.

“We don’t know all the details yet,” he said.
