ATF asks for public’s help in finding arsonists who set fire to Smithfield bar

Federal agents are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the persons responsible for a fire at a bar and grill in Smithfield late last month.

The fire broke out at the R City Bar and Grill at 388-A Venture Drive on Oct. 28, and investigators found evidence indicating it had been intentionally set.

Fire officials reviewed surveillance video that showed two black men entering the business and pouring what appeared to be “a liquid substance inside the premises,” according to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The video also showed a white woman and black man visiting the business “a few hours” prior to the suspects setting the fire, according to the bureau.

ATF announced Monday that it is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information about the fire. Law officers ask anyone with information about the crime to call ATF at 888-283-3473. All calls will be kept confidential.
