Police on Monday arrested a registered sex offender whom a grand jury had indicted this month on a charge of obstructing justice in hopes of not being arrested for being at Fuquay-Varina Elementary School in early June.

His address is listed in arrest paperwork and on the state’s Sex Offender Registry as 3000 Taybran Lane in an apartment complex that it is in Raleigh but has a Louisburg address.

According to the indictment, Currin gave investigators a forged letter from a school principal saying he could be at the school on June 10.

The charge is based on common law. The grand jury indicted him Nov. 17.

Currin was freed on $25,000 bail and ordered to appear in court on Nov. 30.
