Man dies after being shot in Durham store

Police are investigating Durham’s 39th homicide this year after a 58-year-old man was shot inside a Durham convenience store on Saturday night.

A male entered the Buy Quick convenience store at 419 S. Briggs Ave. shortly before 7 p.m. The suspect fired shots, striking Mohamed Thabet Shoufar, according to Kammie Michael, a Police Department spokeswoman. Shoufar, a Buy Quick employee, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. No charges have been filed at this time.
