A town resident was arrested Tuesday on a charge of felony child abuse in connection with what police said were "skeletal injuries" that his 4-month-old son suffered on New Year's Eve at their home.
Chenault Lamont Moore, 33, of 1409 Tulip St. was charged and was arrested by town police and was being held in the Johnston County Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Police said they began investigating after WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh told them that the boy had been brought in New Year’s Eve night with injuries that doctors believed were not accidental.
The baby had been hurt at the Tulip Street house, police were told.
Town spokeswoman Stacy Beard said the child was expected to be released from the hospital “in a few days.”
