Police have charged a 26-year-old Cary man with having more than 800 child-pornography images on his computer and with sending six of them to the department's detective who focuses on such crimes.
Matthew Christian Sinegal was arrested Tuesday afternoon at his home at 7615 Almaden Way and was held at the Wake County Detention Center on $1 million bail, records showed.
Arrest warrants taken out by Detective Kevin West alleged that Sinegal sent West three computer files in December and three more earlier this week and had duplicated six more.
Sinegal was charged with 12 counts of second-degree exploitation of a minor, a charge that covers copying or distributing child pornography videos or still images.

All of the files cited in the arrest warrants involved preteen girls in sexual situations.
In several instances, the warrants said a listed file was “one of more than 800 similar files found on the defendant’s computer.”
Sinegal was scheduled to appear before a judge Wednesday.
