Four bicyclists were injured Saturday afternoon when they were hit by a car near McGee’s Crossroads, according to the State Highway Patrol.
Authorities said a 1992 Crown Victoria was traveling north on Massengill Pond Road near Sue Drive at 2:45 p.m. when it hit the bicyclists, who were in a single-file line, from the rear. The collision threw all four, who were transported to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The Highway Patrol identified the cyclists as Michael Dayton, 60; Christopher Graham, 34; Lynn Lashley, 57; and Joel Arthur Lawrence, 57.
Authorities said the car’s driver, Donnie Marie Williams, 50, was not injured. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the case.
Troopers are continuing their investigation into this case but charges are expected, according to the Highway Patrol.
