A man found fatally shot in a car near a Raleigh apartment complex parking lot early Sunday was identified Monday by police as Ricky Jay Wright.
Wright, 54, was found after police got a 4:15 a.m. call about shots fired around 1800 Cantwell Court, west of North Raleigh Boulevard, police said Sunday.
A woman called 911 after she was started awake by three gunshots, according to a copy of a 911 recording made public Monday afternoon.
Police said Monday they did not have a permanent address for Wright, but had been able to notify relatives before they gave out his name. They said he lived in Raleigh.
Wright was taken to WakeMed Raleigh hospital for treatment, but died there.
Police have not said if they have found a motive for the shooting.
Detectives are especially interested in speaking with anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting and witnessed any activity there, a department spokesman said.
