Murder charge brought in Rolesville shooting

Police have charged a Rolesville man in the shooting death of a 27-year-old man early Sunday, police said.

Wesley Collin Carpenter was transported to Wake Med from a house at 104 N. Main St. in Rolesville. The shooting occurred at about 4:44 a.m., police said. Sunday night, police announced the arrest of James Michael Aaron, 29, of the same Rolesville address, who has been charged with murder.

“I would like to again assure the public that this was an isolated incident and the safety of the community is not in jeopardy,” Chief Bobby Langston said in a press release.

The incident remained under investigation Sunday night.
