RALEIGH A Johnston County man was arrested Monday at Carolina Biblical Gardens in Southeast Raleigh on a charge that he destroyed grave markers and bronze vases by running over them with a backhoe on Friday.

An arrest warrant obtained by Wake County sheriff’s deputies accused Casey Matthew Watson of the felony. Watson, 23, lives at 40 Cheltenham Drive in Clayton, records showed.

The warrant does not say how many graves were disturbed.

Watson was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail pending a first court appearance Monday.

Tax records show that the cemetery, at 1530 Creech Road, is in Raleigh, but deputies brought the charges.
