A Fuquay-Varina youth was being held on $500,000 bail Tuesday after surrendering to authorities on charges by town police of forcible rape and forcible sexual assault on two female victims.

Police swore out arrest warrants last week charging Zachary Sean Ihler, 17, of 909 Sequoia Ridge Drive with one count each of second-degree forcible rape, second-degree forcible sex offense and attempted second-degree forcible rape.

Those charges are brought when either a victim was forced to engage in sexual acts or the victim is mentally disabled or physically helpless. The warrants did not lay out the grounds for the charge.

Detective Sgt. C.T. Perna wrote that the forcible rape happened on Feb. 25 and the forcible sex offense and attempted rape happened on March 11.

The warrants indicted there were different victims on those dates.

Arrest records show that Ihler went to the Wake County Detention Center on Monday morning to turn himself in.

Ihler was to appear in court Tuesday.
