A magistrate ordered a Raleigh man held on $1 million bail after his arrest Wednesday on charges of committing a sexual offense with a girl over the course of three years when she was under 13-year-old.
When Carlos, Avilia-Valenzuela, 43, was brought before the magistrate after his arrest at a Raleigh police station, the magistrate wrote that a law enforcement task force had offered information that Avilia-Valenzuela should be considered a flight risk.
Police accused Vilia-Valenzuela of three counts of first-degree sexual offense with a child and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child under 13.
An arrest warrant said police believed the incidents happened between May 2012 and May 2015.
