RALEIGH A 23-year-old man accused of seriously hurting a woman by beating her with a skateboard at her North Raleigh home earlier this month is now facing two felony drug-possession charges.
Kevin Chou of 2204 Leadenhall Way has been in custody since the attack on Kristin Chandler Byrd on May 8. He was charged that day with assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Tuesday, police detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging that he had 6.1 grams of the drug known as ecstasy or Molly (MDMA) and four doses of LSD on the day he was arrested. Police did not specify where the drugs were.
In both instances, Chou was charged with possession with intent to sell, manufacture or distribute the drugs.
Byrd, 44, was found badly hurt at her Jarvis Street house about 7:50 a.m. that Sunday. Chou was at the house, police said.
Officers were dispatched to the house after authorities got a 911 call from there, but no information about what was wrong.
Police said Chou and Byrd knew each other before the attack, but they have not disclosed how.
The new charges brought Chou’s total bail to $450,000, and he remained at the Wake County Detention Center.
