A robbery victim in downtown Raleigh took matters into his own hands Saturday morning, running down and injuring one of the alleged thieves with his vehicle.
The Raleigh Police Department said several people were waiting around 6 a.m. for a store in City Market to open when two armed men approached them and took money and belongings.
According to police, the suspects ran away. One of the victims, whom police did not name, got into his vehicle to chase after them and ended up striking one at the corner of South Person and East Martin streets.
Both suspects kept running, although police caught the injured man a short time later. Jashon Marquis Estes, 19, was taken to Wake Med Hospital before being transported to the Wake County Detention Center. Estes is currently on probation for two felony convictions in April, of robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to Department of Public Safety records.
