A mother was charged Tuesday with intentional child abuse in a February incident in which police charged that her 2-month-old daughter suffered a skull fracture and a subdural hematoma.
Police arrested Sharon Marie Nelson, 22, at her home at 137 Ammons Road. An arrest warrant obtained Tuesday accused her of one county of felony child abuse inflicting serious injury.
In the warrant, detectives said that her daughter Julianna was the one hurt between Feb. 22 and 24. She was diagnosed with the injuries at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh and police were notified, a police spokeswoman said.
Details of the incident, including who brought the girl to WakeMed, were not disclosed.
