A News & Observer editor was sentenced to 12 months probation after he pled guilty to driving while impaired.
Editorial page editor Ned Barnett also received a 60-day suspended jail sentence. Wake County District Court Judge Debra Sasser sentenced Barnett, 59, on April 25.
Barnett was charged Nov. 1 when police stopped him at 11:45 p.m. on Hillsborough Street just east of the Beltline driving 57 mph in a 35 mph, according to an arrest report. His blood alcohol content measured at 0.12. The legal limit is 0.08.
