Two men from Illinois were arrested near Cameron Village on Tuesday and charged with having 30 counterfeit credit and debit cards and trying to get cash from two banks.
Jimmy Maurice Jackson, 22, of DeKalb, Ill., was charged with trying to get $800 each from a PNC branch and from a Suntrust branch.
Jeremy Devon Burkes, 22, of Chicago was charged with two counts of conspiring with Jackson to get those amounts from those banks.
Both were charged with having the 30 cards that had been encoded with information for accounts at multiple banks.
About 12:30 p.m., officers arrested Burkes at Oberlin Road and Clark Avenue. They arrested Jackson at Chamberlain Street and Clark Avenue.
They were believed to be subjects of investigations by Raleigh and Cary police into fraudulent financial cards.
Each was held on $75,000 bail and scheduled for a Wednesday court appearance.
PNC has a branch at 1959 Clark Ave. Suntrust has a branch at 2101 Clark Ave. They are a few blocks from the arrest locations.
