Police on Friday were looking for details to explain how a 4-year-old girl was wounded by a gunshot at an Underwood Avenue apartment on Thursday night.
Police were called to the building in the 800 block of Underwood, near Maplewood Cemetery, but dispatchers were not told why they were needed, Kammie Michael, a police spokeswoman, said.
Officers were told when they got to the apartment that the girl was being driven to a hospital.
Doctors said she had a gunshot wound to one leg and a graze on one arm, but neither was life-threatening, police said.

The bullet stopped in an adjoining apartment, Michael said.
Police began a search for the gun that fired the bullet, Michael said, and a K-9 found it in bushes near the apartment.
