The student reassignment proposal can be found on the Wake school district's Web site, www.wcpss.net. There, parents can see which schools are included in the reassignment proposal, and if they want to continue, they will be prompted to type in their street address to see whether their neighborhood is affected. Because of the expected high demand online, maps of the affected areas will not be posted until later in the week.
The proposal is also available at The News & Observer's Web site, newsobserver.com. Printed copies are available in schools and at the district's Customer Service Center, 3600 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh.
The public can comment on the proposal online through Dec. 23. Written, oral or e-mail comments will also be accepted until Jan. 1. The e-mail address is email@example.com. To comment by phone, call 501-7998. The mail address is Office of Growth Management, Wake County Public School System, 3600 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
School administrators will review the comments and present an official plan to the school board in February. The school board will then hold public hearings. A tentative date for the board to vote on the plan is March 21.
