Elon University has announced a $5 million donation that will build a new learning center on campus.
The gift is from Robert and Dilek Koenigsberger of Greenwich, Conn., whose daughter Amber is a member of Elon’s current graduating class.
The new center consolidates academic advising, tutoring and disability services offices at the library at Elon. It will be named the Koenigsberger Learning Center at Belk Library.
Elon officials say the center will centralize academic services and the library to create a learning commons to help students succeed in the classroom. Half of the money will go to construction of the new center, while the other half will go into an endowment to operate the center in the future. The center should be finished by the fall of 2018.
