Broughton High School marked the end of the 2016-17 school year on Friday by graduating 440 seniors.
Unlike other Wake County high schools, Broughton holds its graduation on campus. Thousands of people gathered in Holliday Gym to watch Broughton’s Class of 2017 walk across the stage to receive their diplomas.
Friday marked the last day of classes for Wake County’s traditional-calendar schools, which educate most of the district’s 159,549 students. The 11-week summer vacation will end Aug. 28 when the new school year begins.
