Stough Elementary School principal Chris Cox and his wife spun and won on Tuesday’s “Wheel of Fortune.”
Now: Will Stella – Cox’s daughter who encouraged him to go on the show – get a cut?
Probably so. Cox and his wife, Amanda, are planning to turn the trip for two that they won into a trip for five, taking 7-year-old Stella and her sisters – 9-year-old Maddy and 5-year-old Haley – somewhere kid-friendly.
Cox his wife appeared on the game show Tuesday during Sweethearts Week. They won a spot in the final round, where they ultimately lost on the phrase “handpicked avocados.” But the couple still came away with a little over $50,000 in cash and prizes. Aside from the trip, Amanda Cox wants to use the money to remodel the family’s kitchen.

The pair auditioned over the summer and flew to Los Angeles in November to tape the show. They had to stay mum about their appearance until last week, and they couldn’t reveal if they’d won anything until the show aired.
Chris Cox gave his students and staff at Stough Elementary in Raleigh a shout out during the taping, encouraging them to read like they’re supposed to do every night.
And the students heard it.
“I’ve had kids come up to me and say, ‘I read my 20 minutes last night, Mr. Cox,’ ” Cox said. “That’s pretty cool that they want me to know that they’re reading.”
