George Fouts, a longtime community college administrator, has been named interim president of the N.C. Community College System.
The State Board of Community Colleges made the appointment Friday. Fouts will assume the role Sept. 1 when the current president, Scott Ralls, leaves to become president of Northern Virginia Community College.
Fouts has more than 40 years of experience working in the state’s community college system, including as executive vice president of Guilford Technical Community College, interim president at Mayland and Roanoke-Chowan community colleges, as well as being a key player in the system’s student success initiatives.
Fouts was the 2015 recipient of the I.E. Ready Award, the highest honor from the State Board of Community Colleges.
