Cierra Groves of Cary and Neha Jonnalagedda of Apex were selected to attend the Discovery Girls Leadership Summit in California.
Cierra and Neha, both 10, were among the 36 of 8,000 applicants selected to attend the summit in August.
Applicants were asked to submit answers to 12 essay questions about themselves, bullying and other topics.
Discovery Girls, a magazine for girls ages 8 to 13, hosted the Girls Leadership Summit to bring together readers from across the U.S. and Canada to engage in discussions about the obstacles and pressures girls face in school, in society and at home.
Cierra is a fifth-grader at Cardinal Charter Academy in Cary and is the daughter of Audrey Groves.
Neha is in the fifth grade at Washington Elementary in Raleigh and is the daughter Subhraj and Sunanda Jonnalagedda.
