Molly Monsees has been named the Duke University Durham Public Schools student of the month for December.
The Northern High School senior holds a 5.3 weighted GPA and is never at a loss for activities to keep her busy.
“I love the pursuit of knowledge and I love to learn and think”, said Molly in a statement.
Molly also enjoys exercising, reading, cooking and spending time with family and friends in her spare time.

She is president of the Envirothon team and the National Spanish Honor Society. Molly is also a member of the student council and the cross country team. She serves as a tutor to disadvantaged kids, and is a hostess at the Mellow Mushroom restaurant on weekends.
Molly credits her drive and ambitious nature to her parents who she says inspire her everyday.
“My parents are really driven, motivated, passionate people, so I learn from them” Molly said in a statement.
After graduation, Molly hopes to attend either UNC–Chapel Hill or UNC–Charlotte and major in public health or nursing. She says she would love a career dealing with advocacy and women’s health.
