Nine girls have been awarded the Girl Scout Silver Award, the second highest achievement in Girl Scouting. Here is what they did for their projects.
▪ Virginia Bruhn, Josephine Krenitsky, Abigail Germino, and Luisa Marin decided to give back to the Community Church of Chapel Hill, which provides their meeting space, by renovating the kitchen and living areas of the church manse. They repainted the walls in the kitchen and living rooms, made new curtains, and painted a quote about friendship above the fireplace.

▪ Sydney Green, Hannah Kankelfritz and Lillian Riddle focused their project on animal welfare. They teamed up with Paws4Ever, an animal shelter, to provide booklets for new pet owners who adopted a pet from the shelter.
The girls made homemade healthy treats and toys for the animals at the shelter. They then created booklets containing recipes and instructions for pet owners to do the same. The Girl Scouts also spent time volunteering at the shelter and learned about the challenges of keeping shelter animals safe and healthy until they are adopted.
