Yates McConnell, a junior at Raleigh Charter High School, has been named to the State Board of Education as a junior adviser, one of only two student advisers.
He will offer insight and guidance that’s based on his own experiences to the voting members of the board.
He’ll also give presentations on issues, such as preventing school violence and virtual public schools, that are impacting students in the state.
