Boy earns Eagle for retaining wall

Mark Sommers of Raleigh has earned Eagle Scout rank, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting.

For his project, Mark built a concrete block retaining wall for the City of Raleigh. The 30-foot long by 3-foot tall wall was put along the edge of a skateboard ramp facility as a way to keep soil and rainwater from entering the ramp. Mark helped remove soil, construct the wall, regrade the soil and plant grass.

Mark is the son of Kevin Sommers and the late Jennifer Sommers. He’s a member of Troop 364.
