Wake County school board announces principal changes

The Wake County school board announced principal changes on Tuesday, including a high school principal leaving to take a job in the central office.

Timothy Locklair will leave Holly Springs High School, where he’s been principal since 2009, to become Western Area Superintendent at a salary of $121,440. He’ll become one of the seven area superintendents who help oversee Wake’s 171 schools. His new start date hasn’t been determined.

Candace Watson will become principal of Lacy Elementary School in Raleigh on Nov. 1, receiving a salary of $88,594. Watson has been an assistant principal at Carnage Middle School in Raleigh since 2001.

Charles Langley will fill in as the interim principal of West Lake Middle School in Apex during December. He’s served at several schools since retiring as principal of Willow Springs Elementary School.
