Wake County announces principal changes at five schools

The Wake County school board announced three new principal appointments on Tuesday while a fourth principal is relocating for a job in the central office.

Teresa Caswell will start as principal of Alston Ridge Elementary School in Cary, with a salary of $79,161, on March 2. Caswell has been assistant principal of Lead Mine Elementary School in Raleigh since 2010.

Kimberly Burton will become principal of Timber Drive Elementary School in Garner, with a salary of $89,750, on Feb. 24. She has been principal of East Garner Elementary School since 2010.

Carmen Graf will become principal of East Garner Elementary, with a salary of $77,609, on Feb. 24. Graf has been principal of Banks Road Elementary School in Fuquay-Varina since 2011.

Wiladean Thomas will serve as Banks Road’s interim principal for the rest of the school year. Thomas retired as principal of Holly Grove Elementary School in Holly Springs last year,

Kengie Bass will leave the position of principal of Moore Square Middle School in Raleigh, which he’s held since 2011, on March 2. He will become senior director of middle school programs with a salary of $91,560.

Danny Barnes, a retired area superintendent, will serve as Moore Square’s interim principal for the rest of the school year.

Teresa Abron will be interim principal of Conn Elementary School in Raleigh from March 2 to April 3. Abron retired as principal of Dillard Drive Middle School in Raleigh in 2009.
