The Wake County school board’s facility committee could decide Wednesday whether to recommend converting Brier Creek Elementary in North Raleigh to a traditional calendar or opt to postpone making a recommendation until the early summer.
School administrators are still backing the idea of changing Brier Creek from the year-round calendar and opening nearby E38 elementary school as the year-round option for the Brier Creek area. This comes after parents raised concerns about the calendar change at a Jan. 28 informational meeting.
Staff says that calendar changes could also be coming to Highcroft Drive Elementary, a track 4 year-round school in Cary, and Wilburn Elementary, a multi-track year-round school in North Raleigh.
The committee could opt to recommend now the Brier Creek change to the full board or wait until the early summer to do all the calendar changes together.
