Wake County families will have to wait until Friday at the earliest to find out which two Saturdays will be used as school makeup days.
School officials say they’re postponing the announcement of which April Saturday and which May Saturday will be used until they know for sure that classes will be held Friday. The upcoming wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet could, if things get significantly worse, lead to another canceled day of classes on Friday.
Parents and students will be spending tonight and potentially early Friday morning waiting to see if classes are delayed and/or canceled.
On Tuesday, the school board backed staff’s recommendation use two Saturdays and Good Friday, which is April 3, to make up last week’s three snow days. At the time, school officials said they’d announce shortly which Saturdays would be selected.

Among the questions that need to be resolved is whether track 2 year-round students who didn’t miss any school last week will be required to attend any of the makeup days. At least two of the makeup days will likely occur while they’re tracked in for school.
Another question is what will happen with track 4 students who missed time last week but who will be tracked out on Good Friday and potentially the April Saturday makeup day. Those students are wondering if they’ll have to come to class during the middle of their break.
