Principal returns from Abu Dhabi to lead Raleigh school

The Wake County school board announced Tuesday that a principal is being promoted to area superintendent and that three schools are getting new leaders.

Ashlie Thompson will become one of Wake’s area superintendents, with a salary of $120,000, as she oversees schools in a part of the county that hasn’t been chosen for her yet. She has been principal of the Vernon Malone College and Career Academy in Raleigh since it opened in 2013.

Kathryn Hutchinson will become principal of Centennial Campus Middle School in Raleigh with a salary of $96.026. She has been principal of Joyner Elementary School in Raleigh since 2012.

Hutchinson replaces Katie McMillan, Centennial’s principal since 2014, who will become an assistant principal at Carroll Middle School in Raleigh.

Alison Cleveland will become principal of Wakefield Middle School in Raleigh with a salary of $70,049. She has been an assistant principal at Athens Drive High School in Raleigh since 2014.

Victoria Privott will become principal of Lynn Road Elementary School in Raleigh with a salary of $80,988. She had been principal of Wakefield Elementary School in Raleigh until 2015 when she left to become an assistant principal at an all-girls school in the United Arab Emirates.
