It will be red vs. blue Wednesday night in Apex as competing groups of parents weigh in about converting Salem Middle School and Salem Elementary School from the year-round calendar to the traditional calendar.
Supporters of keeping both schools on the year-round calendar will be wearing blue-colored clothing for the 6:30 p.m. informational meeting at Salem Middle School. Proponents of converting both Apex schools to the traditional calendar will be wearing red-colored clothing at the meeting.
Wednesday’s meeting is one of the ways that Wake County school officials are getting community feedback before recommending next week whether to convert both Salem schools and Highcroft Drive Elementary to the traditional calendar.
The wearing of clothing of a specific color at public meetings is reminiscent of the tactics used by parents during the old student reassignment fights.
