Wake County school board buys land for western Wake school

The Wake County school board agreed Tuesday to buy land for a new elementary school in Morrisville near Research Triangle Park.

The school board is offering $4.1 million for 32 acres on the southern side of Little Drive west of its intersection with Davis Drive. The land is owned by the Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina.

Board approval is subject to the approval of the contract by its real estate counsel. The Wake County Board of Commissioners would also have to authorize the land purchase.

If the land deal is approved, construction of the proposed western Wake school would be funded out of a future school construction program.
