The Wake County school board appointed a new principal and tapped four retired educators for interim appointments on Tuesday.
Kendall Grigg was named the new principal of Baileywick Elementary School in North Raleigh with a salary of $62,245. Grigg is a teacher at Centennial Campus Middle School in Raleigh who previously was principal of the Goddard School of Science and Technology in Worcester, Mass.
Grigg will start at Baileywick on Feb. 1
Freda Cole will serve as principal of Morrisville Elementary School in February. She was principal there before her retirement. Also on Tuesday, Cole was appointed to be interim assistant principal of Herbert Akins Road Elementary School in Fuquay-Varina from Jan. 11 to Jan. 31
Mike Chappell was named interim principal of Zebulon Elementary School from Feb. 1 to April 30. Chappell was principal there before he retired.
Mary Warren will be interim principal of Fuquay-Varina Elementary School from Feb. 1 to May 31. She has been interim assistant principal at the school since January 2015.
Danny Barnes’ contract as interim Central Area Superintendent was extended to June 30.
