Wake County school board appoints new principals to three schools

The Wake County school board appointed principals to three schools on Tuesday, including two high schools.

Dhedra Lassiter will start as principal of Rolesville High School on July 1 with a salary of $112,109. Lassiter has been principal of Rolesville Middle School since 2011, where she was named Wake County Principal of the Year in 2014.

Michael Chappell will serve as Rolesville Middle’s interim principal from July 1 to Sept. 30.

Keith Richardson will become principal of the new Crossroads Flex High School in Cary, starting July 1 with a salary of $78,955. Richardson has been principal of York Elementary School in Raleigh since 2011.

Crossroads Flex is the new Wake high school that will offer a mix of online and in-person courses and flexible learning hours. Wake reopened the application period to June 24 to try to attract more students.

Gary Major will become the new principal of River Bend Elementary School in Raleigh, starting July 1 with a salary of $87,966. Major has been principal of J.W. Parker Middle School in the Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools since 2013.
